Long-Distance Moving

Interstate moving services from the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids area to anywhere in the United States. We load, haul, and unload your household belongings across state lines with the same care as a local move, backed by proper licensing and insurance for long-distance transport.

Long-distance moving is where the big national van lines tend to let people down — your stuff gets loaded onto a truck with three other families' belongings, transferred at a terminal, and shows up two weeks late with a box missing. We do it differently. Your household goes on our truck, with our crew, and stays there until it reaches your door.

How it works

Our long-distance moving process

1

Inventory & quote

We do a walkthrough — in person or by video — to account for specialty items, then give you a binding written quote so there are no surprises.

2

Pack & load

We pad-wrap and secure everything for highway transport. We can supply boxes or pack the whole house if you'd rather not.

3

Drive it ourselves

Your goods stay on our truck, start to finish. You get updates en route and a single point of contact who knows exactly where your stuff is.

4

Deliver & place

We unload, place, and reassemble at the destination. If your new place isn't ready, we'll work with you on timing.

The details

Because we run our own freight lanes across 49 states, we sometimes schedule a household move on the same route as a freight load — which can bring your cost down. We've logged enough interstate miles to know how to pack a truck so nothing shifts between Iowa and Denver, Atlanta, or the coasts. The biggest thing you're buying with us isn't just transport; it's knowing the same people who loaded your home are the ones unloading it.

“On a cross-country move, you want to know who has your things. With us, it's me and my crew the whole way”

— not a chain of subcontractors you'll never meet. — Mohamed Soliman, Owner

★★★★★
“We needed a pallet of auto parts moved from Cedar Rapids to Chicago on short notice. Freight Bridge got it there in two days without any damage. Mohamed kept me updated the whole time. I run a small shop and can't afford delays — these guys delivered. Will use again for sure.”
Sarah T. · Cedar Rapids, IA
★★★★☆
“Used Freight Bridge to move a few large pieces of furniture from Des Moines to Minneapolis. Pricing was straightforward and they were easy to communicate with. The delivery window was a bit wider than I would have liked, but everything arrived in great shape. Would recommend for anyone needing freight service.”
David K. · Des Moines, IA
★★★★★
“Moving from Chicago to Iowa City felt overwhelming until we found Freight Bridge. Mohamed walked us through the whole process and his crew handled our stuff like it was their own. Not a single scratch on anything. They even helped us rearrange furniture after unloading. Worth every penny.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How far will you move my belongings?

Anywhere in the continental United States. We're based in Iowa City but we run nationwide — whether you're moving to Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, or Portland, we'll get you there.

How does pricing work for long-distance moves?

We price based on distance, weight, and volume. Since we're a one-truck operation with low overhead, our rates are competitive. We'll give you an honest quote with no hidden fees.

Can you combine my long-distance move with freight hauling?

Often yes. Since we cover 49 states for freight, we can sometimes schedule a household move on the same route as a freight load — which can save you money. Ask us about it when you book.

What's the difference between your long-distance moving and freight hauling services?

Long-distance moving is for households and personal belongings, with full loading/unloading service. Freight hauling is commercial freight from brokers and dispatchers. Different focus, same truck.

Do you provide packing materials for long-distance moves?

We can provide boxes, tape, and packing supplies on request. We can also pack your items for you if you'd rather leave it to someone who's done it a thousand times.

How do you protect my furniture during a long cross-country trip?

We use furniture pads, stretch wrap, tie-downs, and careful loading to keep everything secure. Your items won't shift during transport — we've logged enough miles to know how to pack a truck right.

What if my new place isn't ready on the expected delivery date?

We'll work with you on timing and storage options if needed. Since we manage our own schedule, we have more flexibility than the big corporate movers. We'll figure out a solution.
